The Thinking Child Academy

"Teaching the little thinkers of today, to be the big thinkers of tomorrow."

Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a high quality educational experience that promotes the hysical, social, emotional and cognitive development of children.  We believe that every child can learn.  However, many times children are left behind because their ndividualities are overlooked.  We believe in tapping into each child's individual earning style in order to facilitate their learning process.

About Our School
In 2003, Noelia Montaner and Angela Pinaglia embarked on their mission to open an early childhood center where children would grow and blossom.  Noelia and Angela are not only business partners but sisters as well.  Within a year of beginning their earch, they opened The Thinking Child Learning Center in August 2004 in Florida City.  As their center grew, they looked for ways to better serve the South Dade community.

The Thinking Child Academy, located in Homestead, opened its door in late March 2007.  In addition to offering early childhood education programs, The Thinking child Academy also offers Kindergarten through 5th grade classes as well as a large after-school program.

The Thinking Child is different from other schools.  It is committed to the education of every single child that enters its door.  The quality of a child's early childhood education is an indicator of later success in school.  The program has been designed to help each child succeed.  Ms. Montaner and Ms. Pinaglia also understand that behind every child's success is an informed and supportive family.  Parents are always aware of what is being taught in their child's classroom and always welcomed to visit the school and attend special events.

About Our Principal
Ms. Montaner has over 19 years of experience in education.  She holds a Master's Degree in Education and Administration from Nova Southeastern University and her
experiences include teaching, curriculum writing, teacher training, and public school administration. Ms. Montaner is committed to bringing high quality education to all of the students in her school.  She is always looking for ways to provide new and positive opportunities that will instill in them  the value of education.

Preschool
Our preschool centers use the Core Knowledge Pre-school Program.  This program for three - five year olds is specifically designed to provide your child with the solid foundation he or she will need for later learning in Kindergarten and beyond.

The Core Knowledge Preschool Program is based on scientific research about how young children learn, as well as research into the best preschool practices around the world.

Elementary
At our school, your child will be offered a very special curriculum called Core Knowledge. It is based on some of the ideas presented by E. D. Hirsch, Jr. in his well-known books, Cultural Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know and The
Schools We Need and Why We Don't Have Them, and further developed by the foundation he established in 1986.

In each grade students will be exposed to a broad range of historical, scientific, and cultural topics that will build on one another to prepare them for later educational success. This wide array of subject matter will not only develop cultural literacy but also will build the strong vocabulary necessary for true reading comprehension.

Core Knowledge tries to develop cultural literacy in a way that is systematic but  leaves room for creativity for both teacher and student. This curriculum eliminates
the gaps and repetition that characterize a curriculum in which textbooks and programs are selected more or less at random.
